We’ve Launched “Norma y Obra”: ALFATORRES’ Technical Newsletter on Fire Safety Regulations and Fire Doors

We’ve launched “Norma y Obra,” a monthly newsletter on LinkedIn.

It focuses on the technical interpretation of fire safety regulations as they apply to real-world projects. The first issue analyzes the requirements of Royal Decree 164/2025 for fire doors in industrial buildings.

Fire safety regulations in Spain have undergone a significant update with the entry into force of Royal Decree 164/2025. This decree approves the new Fire Safety Regulations for Industrial Facilities (RSCIEI). At ALFATORRES—manufacturers specializing in fire-rated doors and access engineering with over 40 years of experience—we wanted to address a specific need in the industry: providing rigorous, practical, and accessible technical interpretation. We want to share our perspective, our knowledge, and our experience, because simply knowing the regulations isn’t enough when applying them to new projects.

With that goal in mind, Norma y Obra was created. Our monthly newsletter on LinkedIn is aimed at engineers, specifiers, project managers, and facilities managers who need to understand the standards to make better project decisions.

The first issue is now available

Issue No. 01, published in June 2026, provides an in-depth look at the requirements established by the RSCIEI for fire-rated doors in industrial buildings. Topics include the required fire resistance rating EI2 and its conditions, automatic-closing classifications C3 and C5, relevant UNE standards, specific applications in elevators and firefighter access points, and the distinct treatment of fire shutters versus interior doors.

A technical read of 5 to 6 minutes aimed at those who must specify, install, or maintain these components in real-world projects.
